We visited Agua Fria National Monument this weekend. It was still pretty hot – in the 90’s mid day. If you take I17 north from Phoenix, get off at exit 256. Follow the signs to drive down to the parking area for the trail head. There is a restroom along the road before the parking area. We hiked down the Badger Springs Trail to the river. The hike to the river area was about 15 to 20 minutes. Coming from the Midwest, I would probably call this a creek at least based upon the current water level. There was a family enjoying playing in the water. We didn’t see any birds but we did see a lot of butterflies and a dragonfly. We also saw a variety of lizards.
